Alan served as SVP of Engineering and Knowledge at Google for over ten years. Previously, he oversaw the development of a variety of advanced chip designs and architecture projects, including BIPS—the fastest microprocessor of its era, and ATOM, a binary code instrumentation system. He held a 15-year tenure at Digital/Compaq/HP’s Western Research Laboratory.

He is the author of several publications, and holds numerous patents. Alan’s community projects include The Second Harvest Food Bank and Anita Borg Scholarship Fund.
