2024 marked a year of exciting growth and progress for the Asteroid Institute. With invaluable support from our donors, including leadership gifts from Laurie Girand, Scott McGregor, Tito’s CHEERS, and our partners at Google Cloud, we’ve made strides in mapping the solar system and advancing asteroid discovery. Through our ADAM platform, we identified 27,500 previously undetected asteroids, achieving a major milestone with the help of scalable processing.

This year also saw recognition for two of our cofounders for their contributions to space exploration and asteroid protection, while our scientist Dr. Joachim Moeyens shared his research at the IAU General Assembly. We celebrated Asteroid Day at the Chabot Space & Science Center and awarded the first Schweickart Prize to Joe DeMartini, whose SUNSET Collaboration proposal targets improved detection of challenging Sunward Near-Earth Objects.
