How Curiosity Led Adam Fritz to B612

For Georgetown University student Adam Fritz, B612 Foundation offered something difficult to find in a classroom: the freedom to experiment, take ownership, and learn through meaningful work.
Adam first joined B612 in 2022 as an intern supporting the Asteroid Day team. He returned in 2024–2025 to support B612’s marketing efforts, where managing Google Ads became one of the defining experiences of his internship. By testing new approaches and refining the campaigns, Adam helped B612 make the most of its advertising resources and reach new audiences.
“It was one of the first times in my life I had the free rein to do my best and to commit myself to learning,” he says. “It gave me a framework that I’ve continued to use throughout college and in my other professional experiences.”

Another formative moment came during Asteroid Day 2022, when Adam met astrophysicist Dr. Tom Wagg. Tom’s enthusiasm for astronomy and research left a lasting impression. Their conversations about astrophysics and careers in science introduced Adam to possibilities he had not previously considered and reinforced the value of staying curious.
Looking back, Adam says his time with B612 Foundation gave him more than technical experience—it broadened his perspective.
“My experience with B612 and the Asteroid Institute helped me see a unique part of the world in a very personal way,” he says. “It reminded me to keep my eyes open and not close my mind to where opportunities might lead.”
As he continues his studies, Adam carries with him the confidence, practical skills, and collaborative mindset he developed during his internships. He credits the experience with showing him how much he could learn by working alongside passionate people from a wide range of backgrounds.
For students considering an internship or volunteer opportunity with B612 Foundation or the Asteroid Institute, his advice is simple:
“Do it. There aren’t a lot of opportunities to work so closely with people so knowledgeable and talented. The internship and volunteer opportunities they offer can and will grow with you as you are able to take on more and more responsibility. You will never be bored.”
