Computer scientist and former NASA executive, Ken is the founder and CEO of the non-profit Institute for Human & Machine Cognition. He has authored/edited hundreds of scientific papers and six books concentrating on AI, cognitive science, human-centered computing, and entrepreneurship in government and academia.

He has served on the National Science Board as well as the Science Advisory Boards of the US Air Force, Department of Defense and NASA, where he served as Chairman. Ken holds NASA’s Distinguished Public Service Medal. A fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence, his many awards include the Doctor Honoris Causas from the University of Bordeaux, and the Robert Englemore Memorial Award.
